Recap of Digital Sisterhood Radio’s Feminism Online Series on Feminism & Food: Learning to Deeply Nourish Ourselves

Last night Digital Sisterhood Radio launched its Feminism Online Series with a discussion about feminism,  food, and learning to deeply nourish ourselves. It featured Kerrie Martin, Holistic Health Counselor, Speaker, Educator, and Founder of, Live In Rhythm.  During the show, Kerrie explored natural eating strategies that honor our appetite, desires, rhythm, intuition, and need for pleasure.  She addressed the idea of nourishment versus nutrition and how deepening our self-care can release stress and support our health.  She also shared how we can step into our feminist power by honoring our body wisdom moment to moment so that we may experience more joy and peace and claim our rightful metabolism.  It was a powerful show!

Click here to listen to the audio recording (47 minutes).

Check out the Twitter stream from the show which includes many of Kerrie’s insightful remarks and tips below.

Feminism Online Project Goes to Haiti for A Discussion on Feminism

During my Heart of Haiti trip last weekend, I had an opportunity to introduce the Feminism Online Project to several digital sisters.  I also interviewed:

  • Nathalie Tancrede, co-founder of Fondation d’Ayiti Soleil, a Haitian organization that helps educate Haitian girls and women, and the Haiti Country Director for Fairwinds Trading; and
  • Danica Kombol,  Managing and Founding Partner at Everywhere, about feminism, digital sisterhood, and her reasons for being in Haiti.

Feminism Online Project Launches Today with KOFAVIV & Causempolitan Sloane Berrent!

Happy March! Happy National Women’s History Month!

Today marks the beginning of the Digital Sisterhood Network’s Feminism Online Project, a three month initiative that celebrates the rainbow chorus of feminist voices in the digital world.  From now until the end of May, the Feminism Online Project will use the Digital Sisterhood Network blog, Talkshoe.com radio show, Twitter page, and weekly Tweetchats to profile a diverse group of feminist voices and discuss a range of feminist issues.

Today we dedicated our first day of the Feminism Online Project to KOFAVIV, a Haitian women’s organization that supports women and girls who have experienced violence.  The organization is located in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.  Digital Sisterhood Network founder Ananda Leeke visited KOFAVIV on February 26 while she was traveling with the Heart of Haiti campaign as a blogger ambassador.

Check out our first video featuring Sloane Berrent, Founder of The Causemopolitan and Help A Woman Out web project.  See below. She rocked feminism!  Please support her projects. They are amazing!

Feminism Online Project is coming March 1 – May 31, 2011!

Feminism is many things to many people. It lives out loud in the arts, environment, holistic health field, media, music, popular culture, and spirituality.  It is woven into the fabric of individuals’ beliefs and life practices.  It makes its home in diverse communities.  It explores its theories in the halls of academia.  It tests its application and elasticity in businesses, governments, and institutions.  It invites comment and critique wherever it goes. It seeks to bridge the gap between its first, second, third, fourth, and fifth waves.  It comes online and dances with complexity backed up by a rainbow chorus of voices, some of which go unheard.

The Digital Sisterhood Network’s Feminism Online Project celebrates the rainbow chorus of feminist voices in the digital world through its blog, Talkshoe.com radio show, Twitter page, and weekly Tweetchats to profile a diverse group of feminist voices and discuss a range of feminist issues.  The Project also hosts offline events to celebrate women’s art, creative writing, self-care practices, and financial empowerment in Washington, DC.  These activities will be included as research for author Ananda Leeke’s book Digital Sisterhood, a memoir (December 2011).

The Digital Sisterhood Network is using an excerpt from Leeke’s Digital Sisterhood, a memoir as its definition of feminism for the Feminism Online Project:
